The Surnow Company is a family-run real estate development firm based in Birmingham, Michigan and specializing in the adaptive restoration of historic and value-add properties. We focus on projects that respect architectural heritage while delivering financially sound, community-focused outcomes. Our mission is to create places for people to thrive. 

 

The company was started in 1978 by Jeffrey Surnow and was grown to a family run business on a national level. In 2015, the Surnow family experienced the sudden loss of Jeffrey to an accident. With his family’s support, Sam Surnow, Jeffrey’s oldest, and the company’s chief controller, took over the presidency shortly afterward and runs the company to this day with his brother Max Surnow.
